Equipping Students with Skills to Enter the Workforce

Community Matters Cafe functions as a tool that we utilize to implement the 180-day life skills and rehabilitation program at Charlotte Rescue Mission. With the support of staff members who guide, train, and work alongside students to serve the community, students experience the stressors of a restaurant as a way to practice and implement the life skills needed to transition back into daily life. Our students rotate through various positions in the restaurant and coffee shop, allowing them to add to their skill set while affirming their confidence in themselves and the community around them.

While addiction does not discriminate, a common factor we see is a detachment from the community. At Community Matters Cafe, we welcome you to join us in restoring that hope.

facilities and maintenance

In addition to the Lifeskills program at Community Matters Café, Charlotte Rescue Mission has also recently developed a Facilities and Maintenance Lifeskills opportunity. As part of the broader Recovery Living Program, this tract affords our students the opportunity to not only develop standard vocational skills, but also a specialized learning opportunity focusing on facility care, maintenance, and general upkeep of commercial and residential properties. For those students that may still need to develop their vocational strengths, but are not interested in doing so in a restaurant/kitchen environment, this will provide another opportunity for them to do so under the direction, and care of our CRM facilities team.
Today, I know I have purpose and I know that God has got me and as long as I have faith and believe in Him, I know I’m okay.
