Primary Counselor
Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Primary Counselor facilitates the 12 Core Functions of Substance Abuse Counseling with an assigned group of residents in the 120 day substance abuse recovery program. The scope of practice for the Primary Counselor is determined by the credentialing board to which she/he is accountable.
Terms of clinical supervision will be determined as appropriate within the definitions of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board or other appropriate credentialing body. Agency policy requires that the Primary Counselor receive one hour of clinical supervision per forty hours of work with an assigned Certified Clinical Supervisor within the agency. There will be no exceptions to this policy, regardless of licensure or certification level.
The Primary Counselor is expected to adhere to the specific code of ethics accompanying his or her certification and/or licensure, as well as to all agency policies.
- Carries out the twelve core functions as needed with assigned residents. While some functions may be assigned to other departments within the program, the Primary Counselor must be able to perform the following functions:
- Complete and maintain accurate records or reports regarding the resident’s history and progress, services provided, or other required information.
- Counsel residents in both a group and one on one setting.
- Develop resident treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and resident history.
- Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers.
- Act as liaisons between resident and medical staff.
- Provide residents with information about addiction issues and about available services or programs, make referrals when necessary.
- Review and evaluate resident’s progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plan.
- Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in resident status.
- Plan or implement follow-up or aftercare programs for residents to be discharged from program.
- Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services, or other post-treatment agencies.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

PRIMARY COUNSELOR

- SCREENING: the process by which a resident is determined appropriate and eligible for admission to a particular program
- INTAKE: the administrative and initial assessment procedures for admission to a program
- ORIENTATION: describing to the resident the following: general nature and goals of the program; rules governing resident conduct and infractions that can lead to disciplinary action or discharge from the program; the hours during which services are available; treatment costs to be borne by the resident, if any; and resident rights
- ASSESSMENT: the procedures by which a counselor/program identifies and evaluates an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs for the development of a treatment plan
- TREATMENT PLANNING: the process by which the counselor and the resident identify and rank problems needing resolution; establish agreed upon immediate and long-term goals; and decide upon a treatment process and the resources to be utilized
- COUNSELING: (Individual, Group, and Significant Others): the utilization of special skills to assist individuals, families, or groups in achieving objectives through exploration of a problem and its ramifications; examination of attitudes and feelings; consideration of alternative solutions; and decision-making
- CASE MANAGEMENT: activities which bring services, agencies, resources, or people together within a planned framework of action toward the achievement of established goals, which may involve liaison activities and collateral contacts
- CRISIS INTERVENTION: those services which respond to an alcohol and/or other drug abuser’s needs during acute emotional and/or physical distress
- RESIDENT EDUCATION: provision of information to individuals and groups concerning alcohol and other drug abuse, and the available services and resources
- REFERRAL: identifying the needs of a resident that cannot be met by the counselor or agency and assisting the resident to utilize the support systems and community resources available
- REPORT AND RECORD KEEPING: charting the results of the assessment and treatment plan; writing reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other resident-related data
- CONSULTATION WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN REGARD TO RESIDENT TREATMENT/SERVICES: relating with in-house staff or outside professionals to assure comprehensive, quality care for the resident

Dove’s Nest Women’s Program Facilities Tech (PRN)
Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and document facility activity, room checks, boutique entry, significant events during shift, etc.
- Perform resident room rounds every 1-2 hours
- Provide transportation when scheduled and when directed by supervisor, maintaining gas receipts and reporting vehicle issues as needed.
- Monitor security cameras to assure resident safety; respond to the entry calls when needed
- Review and monitor resident passes for leaving and returning to the facility
- Complete resident personal items check, complete urine test or alcohol breathalyzer as directed or if reasonable cause
- Perform and document monthly room checks as assigned
- Train and become proficient at medication administration under the direction of nursing staff in order to fill in as needed.
- Complete general clerical duties which include but are not limited to filing, copying, posting, messages
- Maintain resident supplies and assist with distribution
- Keep order and cleanliness in the Tech Office and Staff Work Room
- Conduct morning checks of morning meditation, evening wrap up, or Saturday morning huddle depending on shift.
- Document events of shift into “shift notes”
- Give accountment of shift to the oncoming Facility Technician

3rd Shift Facility Technician at Charlotte Rescue Mission
Summary
Do you have a passion for making a difference? Charlotte Rescue Mission, a Christ-centered residential drug and alcohol recovery program, is seeking a dedicated Facility Technician to join our team.
The Facility Technician overnight staff is responsible for the safety of the facility and the clients and assures that program schedule is being followed. Must be a self-starter and be able to multi-task. A team player that is willing to work with various departments to achieve overall goals of the mission. Have good relational skills and work in a recovery environment with clients.
The position is full time, onsite, in person regularly Monday – Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will:
- Perform client bed checks after 10:30PM periodically throughout the shift per policy, and document activity.
- Complete general clerical duties to include but not limited to: filing, copying, posting, message retrieval, inventory of office and program supplies etc.
- Make copies of educational “client handouts” as indicated on the program scheduled for number of clients participating in the class.
- Check KIPU for client appointments and prepare the necessary releases for various appointments.
- Set up/ pack out medications as needed to support the residents.
- Responsible for cleanliness and order of the administration office.
- Provide shift report to oncoming Facility Tech.
- Attend monthly tech meetings and quarterly staff team building meetings.
- In emergency situations, transport clients to the emergency room.
- Maintain ethical boundaries in all interactions with the individuals we serve, ensuring respect, integrity, and accountability at every step.
- Other duties as required.
Note:
All Facility Technicians may be required to provide inclement weather and emergency coverage as needed and requested, as well as providing their contact information. It is the responsibility of the Facility Technician to monitor weather and other conditions, and to be prepared to move into emergency mode as conditions dictate.

Maintenance Technician
Summary
The Maintenance Technician works closely with the Facilities Manager to perform general maintenance and upkeep for all Charlotte Rescue Mission facilities, including buildings, grounds, vehicles, and systems. The Maintenance Technician is tasked with ensuring good stewardship and management of our two campuses and Recovery Living properties and will work across multiple departments to provide a safe and habitable environment for our residents and staff. In addition, the Maintenance Technician will supervise vendors, residents, and volunteers assigned to work in this area. Some evening/weekend work is required, as well as being on call for emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with planned maintenance and janitorial upkeep of buildings, systems, and vehicles.
- Respond to all work requests in a timely manner, making decisions with the Facilities Manager about prioritizing and outsourcing.
- Assist with maintaining general upkeep at Beaty Center, Dove’s Nest, Community Matters Café, and Recovery Living properties.
- Train, supervise and assist residents assigned to the Life Skills program in the Facilities Department.
- Work with vendors and contractors to assess needs and obtain estimates.
- Assist with office moves and other room set-up requests, working with IT as needed.
- Oversee the maintenance shop, tools, and supply inventory.
- Oversee the janitorial upkeep of the core program facilities.
- Coordinate with volunteer groups on facilities projects and provide oversight when needed.
- Available and able to respond to emergencies in an appropriate and timely fashion.
- After-hours on-call work is required on rotational basis.

Charlotte Rescue Mission, a Christ-centered residential drug and alcohol recovery program, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Food Service Manager to join our Rebound team.
The Assistant Food Service Manager is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager in all operations related to food and food safety for the Charlotte Rescue Mission, including preparation, serving meals, vending, donations, purchasing, inventory, receiving, storage, equipment, USDA commodities and supervision of residents and volunteers in the food service area. Weekend and holiday work is required.

The Admissions Associate is responsible for pre-admission screening and intake duties related to incoming residents for Charlotte Rescue Mission. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well with other staff in coordinating and scheduling new admissions as well as collaborating with community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Returns phone calls from potential residents, families, and agencies, providing information about the program
- Screens potential residents by phone.
- Request and review documentation to assess eligibility and appropriateness of potential residents.
- Drug tests and breathalyzer incoming residents, obtaining required consent.
- Completes new residents, all intake forms, releases, and information worksheets. Have each signed accordingly within KIPU.
- Search resident belongings, securing contraband and medications per policy and procedure.
- Participates in admissions meetings.
- Strictly adheres to all state/federal laws and agency policy regarding confidentiality.
- Conducts admissions screenings off-site as requested by supervisor.
