Great Comebacks

See how Charlotte Rescue Mission is changing lives:

Alcoholism, it seems to me now, is the common thread that weaves throughout my life. The first time I drank was in high school, and I loved the sense of ease and comfort it gave me.

In my early 20’s I began smoking pot and taking pills. When I started using cocaine, and heroin life turned ugly. I became desperate, and for the first time I would do anything to obtain, and I did. I was totally addicted to heroin and crack cocaine, homeless, unemployable, 51, and in jail again.

I had been in detox 10 times in 2 years when a counselor recommended long term treatment. He called Doves Nest, and they took me in.

When I arrived, I had only the dirty clothes on my back. They clothed me, fed me, took care of my medical needs, and began teaching me to live life without drugs or alcohol. They introduced me to the loving, merciful God of the Bible.

Today I live a sober life with integrity. I am employed and am blessed to know that I have a purpose in this world.
