The following is a testimony from a Rebound client:

Before I made the decision to come to the Charlotte Rescue Mission, my life was completely unmanageable. Before my feet hit the floor in the morning it as already in my mind, where am I going to get my next hit, what can I steal, what can I sell etc. I was pulling everyone around that was involved in my life down with me. I could start to see that my choices were very limited. Death was in my future and it was coming fast. I was killing myself very slowly, day by day, all day long. From the time I awoke until the time I went to sleep, if that was in the case, sometimes I would have no choice but to stay awake, not shower, and eat for several days at a time because of the drugs that I had put in my body. I was a lost soul. I had lost the will to live. In my eyes there was nothing left to live for. Hell had to be better than this lifestyle.

On the night of June 1st** I had one more prayer left in me. “GOD please allow me a straight path back to recovery.” Before I said this prayer, no one in my family wanted anything to do with me. They could not stand to see my killing myself as I had been. During my using, they had slowly learned to live without me. In other words, they were planning for my death. My prayer was answered. My family let me stay with them for a few days, only by GOD’S grace, so that I could get my system cleaned out and come to Rebound. When I made it to Rebound, I met the most loving caring people that I have ever met in my life. From the volunteers to the staff, I could see that these people were dedicated to doing GOD’s work. I had no choice but to want what they had to offer if I wanted to live. While sitting down listening to what GOD had done in their life I learned that all I had to do was get out of the way and give my problems to Him and he would show me the way. I can honestly say that I have done that and he is seeing me through all my problems, slowly but surely.

Today I can say that I have never felt this good in my life. I am truly blessed to have another chance to live. One of the most important things that I learned at Rebound is that nothing, absolutely nothing, happens on GOD’S earth by mistake. I am thankful for my past because it can only make me a stronger person in the future so that I can possibly help someone else in need like the people that helped me.
