Every holiday, Charlotte Rescue Mission provides free phone calls for all of our guests. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, Cricket generously provided our cell phones for free long distance including international calls. Charlotte Observer has the following story from Christmas day:
Kevin Duffy, who has been homeless for years, asked for a cell phone Friday and called his mother for the first time in nearly a month.
Duffy was among dozens of impoverished men who used donated cell phones at the Charlotte Rescue Mission to talk to family and friends on Christmas.
When Duffy spoke into the phone, he said, his mother started to cry.
