1,300 Charlotte Families Receive Thanksgiving Meal Boxes (TWCNews 11/21/16)

CHARLOTTE — For the past five years, the Charlotte Rescue Mission has asked the community to donate the trimmings to complement Thanksgiving meals for local families.

This year, donors overwhelmed the Mission with enough food for 1,300 Thanksgiving food boxes.

Charlotte Rescue Mission Executive Director Tony Marciano said the organization only had secured 500 turkeys so they had too much food and not enough turkeys.

“And so for the last week, we asked Charlotte, once again, to help us, have a turkey with a Thanksgiving food box and only as Charlotte does, they stepped up to the plate and over 1,300 hundred turkeys were donated to Charlotte Rescue Mission.”

The food boxes were given out on Monday around Charlotte to local families in need.
